When I got home this afternoon I found my first draft copy of OS&S on the front porch! I was way more excited than I though I would be. I mean this is my game! A year ago this was just a thought in my head and here it is a physical reality. I ran inside and opened the box and began pouring through it. I found a few things that needed minor tweeks and a lot that made me happy.

First off, the box, just a plain white box with the shipping address on it. Definately not the kind of box you keep out on display but very sturdy and likely to out last many nicer boxes. Inside the box where all of the components I had ordered along with some balls of paper for packing. All of the components looked amazing! There where; seven die 6s, nine bird cards, nine white bird tokens, one black rat token, one sheet of bird token stickers, two sheets of rules (double sided), and three plastic bags for components.

The dice where your basic boardgame variety. The bird cards looked awsome though the backs where inverted from how you would expect them to be. A simple enough change to make. All of the tokens where very nice and easy to affix the stickers to. The stickers where easy to peel and stick as well as the birds showing up nicely on them. The rules left some to be desired. The sheets where thin and easily see through and much too easy to rip, smudge or otherwise damage. I would have expected at least a bit thicker paper if not cardstock.

All in all I am pretty happy with the way that the game came out. I am going to be making some changes to the components just to take better advantage of how the pieces are produced as well as how the pieces interact with one another now that I can see all of the pieces together.

The sticker sheet has room for alot more stickers on it so I will be adding a few rows of birds so that players can put them on both the front and back of their tokens as well as having extras just in case. I will also be adding in some promo stickers that players can wear, share, stick on their lockers, coffee mugs, ect.

The spaces on the board are too small for the tokens. I will be changing the size and number of spaces to accomidate for the size. Hopefully I can accomplish this with out altering how the game feels much.
